Getting around the USA.
Adventurous travel isn’t always the easiest to get to!
Hiking and bike touring in remote areas doesn’t always go hand-in-hand with access to affordable public transport options.
Here are a few different options to explore, from ground and air transportation, to trail angels.
Public transport options.
You’ve arrived in the USA - now what?
Public transport outside of large cities can be problematic, with a lot of Americans choosing to travel by car to get from A to B.
To get as close as possible to the trailhead or bike touring starting point, check out Amtrak, Greyhound and local bus networks.

Struggling to find public transport options?
Connect with fellow travellers online and chat with people who are planning to hike or cycle at the same time as you.
Trail Association forums.
Popular trails are managed by official Associations or Foundations who may have a forum on their website.
Using the forum, you may be able to post questions and find people to share a ride.
Facebook groups.
Popular hiking trails and cycling routes are highly likely to have a dedicated Facebook group - join and find other people to share or split the cost of a shuttle or taxi.
Trail angels.
Trail angels are amazing people who give their time and assistance to help thru-hikers and cyclists - some trail angels often provide lifts to and from trailheads.
